11/09/2023: Here’s the latest weekly update from Kildysart GAA Club.
Results:
The U17 boys had a win back the west last Monday week when they beat Naomh Eoin/O’Curry’s/Kilkee by a score line of 1-13 to 1-7.
On Sunday, the U14 ladies had a big win in their quarter-final clash with East Clare Gaels, winning 3-7 to 0-6. This was the first championship match played on the newly developed pitch and the feedback from players and spectators was very positive. The first half was a low-scoring affair with the East Clare side first on the board in the opening minutes. Kildysart followed with three points to lead at the break 3 points to 1. Kildysart started brightly in the second half scoring 2-2 without reply and dictated events from here on out. Final score 3-7 to 0-6. Well done to the team and management and the club wishes Abigail a speedy recovery and hope she is back on the pitch very soon.
The Junior Men played a blinder in their 4th round match on Friday evening, with an 8-point second quarter turnaround, to edge Michael Cusack’s 2-9 to 2-8. This sets them up for a round 5 showdown with table-topper Kilrush. A win for Kildysart sees them earn a quarter-final spot but anything less and we are dependent on the result between Eire Og and M. Cusacks.
Fixtures:
Kildysart is the venue for the U17 Boys final round v Doonbeg on Wednesday (13th Sept) at 6:30. Kildysart/Coolmeen are in Group 2 of Division 2-3 and the knockout stages will separate the group into divisions 2 and 3, based on table rankings. A win for Kildysart/Coolmeen means that they have a shot at finishing 4th in their group (but will also be dependent on other results) and thus competing in the Division 2 Shield semi-finals. However, if they do not win, they will be competing in the Division 3 Cup semi-finals.
Kildysart's eagerly anticipated Senior Quarter final is this Sunday at 3pm in Cusack Park where Kildysart takes on Miltown. See the Championship Blog for more more news about the championship so far.
The Junior Men are also playing on Sunday - their round 5 match against Kilrush throws in at 12 noon in Labasheeda.
The U12 Boys hit the road to Cooraclare on Saturday 16th for their round 2 blitz.
The Junior Ladies play are in the Junior A Shield semi-final v Doora Barefield 2 on Monday week (18th Sept) in Gurteen at 6:45
U14 Ladies' semi-final is v Kilmihil and takes place in Kilmihil on or before the 17th September.
