10/10/2023: Here’s the latest weekly update from Kildysart GAA Club.

Results:

The U17’s had a heartbreaker of a loss on Saturday last when they faced Breckans in the Division 2 Shield semi-final, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-11, St. Breckans 2-9. Kildysart/Coolmeen got off to a good start with three points from Liam Casey keeping matters all square at the end of the first quarter. Conal Casey then stretched the lead with a lovely chipped-in goal and two further points. Both sides had players sent to the sin bin in two different instances with approximately 5 minutes remaining. Kildysart/Coolmeen were ahead 4 points at the break, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-6 to Breckans 0-5.

Liam Casey started off the scoring in the second half but the Lisdoonvarna outfit went ahead in the 52nd minute after scoring 1-3 without reply. Points from Jamie Sheehan and Conal Casey tipped the lead to Kildysart/Coolmeen once more with full time on the clock, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-9, Breckans 1-8. However, with extensive injury time to come, it wasn’t over yet. Breckan's goal in the 62nd minute gave them a 2-point lead. The accuracy of Liam Casey’s free taking under pressure clawed the back two points in the 64th & 66th minutes but Kildysart/Coolmeen were unable to find the equaliser. Final score: Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-11, Breckans 2-9. Referee: J. Kelly. Well done to the players and management on a very competitive season.

Kildysart/Coolmeen: Ben Sheehan, Quin Collins, James Casey, Jessie Collins, Rueben Ginnane, Cillian Kelly, Harrison Scanlon, Daniel Moloney, Jamie Sheehan (0-1), Alan Hassett, Conal Casey-captain (1-3, 3f), Darragh Murtagh, Liam Casey (0-7, 5f), Michael Kennedy, Oran Meaney. Subs: TJ O’Donoghue for O. Meaney (64 min).

Well done to the St. John Bosco U17 hurlers who are in a Munster Quarter final after a 1-point victory over Newport College, 2-16, to 3-12 in round 2 of the Munster competition.
