Results:

The U14’s played well but unfortunately, they bowed out at the semi-final stage of the Division 1 competition after a two-goal loss to a strong Doora Barefield team, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-9 to Doora Barefield 3-9. Points from Jamie Eyres and Kealan Casey had Kildysart / Coolmeen off to a great start in the opening minutes. Two brave saves from goalie Diarmuid Garry kept the amalgamation in front before Doora Barefield finally broke down the rear guard and raided for their first green flag. A point from the boot of Mark Kennedy brought the sides level again with 15 minutes on the clock. Doora Barefield hit a purple patch and with 4 unanswered points started to pull away. But a goal from Kealan Casey after a quickly taken free brought Kildysart/Coolmeen right back into the match, one point down with 10 minutes remaining in the half, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-3, Doora Barefield 1-4. The backs, led by Rueben Ginnane, were working tirelessly but there was nothing they could do when Doora Barefield struck for their second major when the ball hit off the upright and fell kindly to a Doora Barefield forward who finished to the net. Again Casey responded with a point from play before Doora Barefield’s fisted effort secured their third goal. The last kick of the half was a pointed free from Casey to reduce the deficit to five, Kildysart / Coolmeen 1-5, Doora Barefield 3-4.

Doora Barefield started off the scoring in the second half but three in a row from Ben Sheehan had Kildysart/Coolmeen right back in the match and left just the kick of the ball between the sides with the 4th quarter to come, Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-8, Doora Barefield 3-5. Then a Robbie Kelly free left only 2 between the sides but that was as close as it would get as Doora Barefield tacked on the last 4 scores to see the match out. Final score: Kildysart/Coolmeen 1-9, Doora Barefield 3-9.

Kildysart/Coolmeen: Diarmuid Garry, Joe Doohan, Rueben Ginnane, Aidan McNamara, Andrew Watson, Siney Neenan, Fionn Connelly, Ben Sheehan (0-3, 2f), William Neenan, Alex Garry, Kealan Casey-captain (1-3, 1f), Robbie Kelly (0-1, 1f), Mark Kennedy (0-1), Jamie Eyres (0-1), Aaron Connelly. Subs: SJ Casey for A. Connelly (36 min), Cuan Meaney for McNamara (50 min), Kyle Frawley for Casey (55 min), Aidan Tomkins for Kennedy (55 min).
