13/11/23: Here’s the latest weekly update from Kildysart GAA Club.

Results:

There were no matches this past week.

Fixtures:

Kildysart/Coolmeen are taking part in a U16 Non-Championship knock-out competition. Kildysart/Coolmeen, along with Cooraclare, and Gaels/Kilmihil had a bye in the preliminary round. Those teams and the winners from the preliminary round, (Clarecastle, Parteen-Meelick, Miltown, Banner & KIB) make up the 8 quarter-finalists. Match details will be posted when known.

Kildysart/Coolmeen U13’s are playing on a divisional team called Corca Baiscin along with Kilrush, Kilimer, and Doonbeg. We normally form part of the Estuary Gaels squad but there are large numbers in that panel. By joining with Corca Baiscin, more of our own players can take part in the competition. The first match is this Sunday at 2:30 in Kildysart v Inis Faughs.

The pitch will also be in use on Sunday morning as the Clare LGFA are holding U14 team tryouts.

There is no update on the U21A fixture v Ennistymon.

Munster Club Championship: Kilimer is the last Clare team remaining in Munster Football Championship and they face Affane of Waterford in the Junior A Quarter-Final in Kilrush on Saturday 18th November at 1:30pm.

Please check the Clubzap Games tab or the website fixtures listing for all up-to-date fixtures and results.

Field Development: The club wishes to thank everyone who supported this year’s development draw and is looking forward to the first draw this Sunday 19th November immediately after mass, where 18 prizes totaling €3,400 will be up for grabs. For a few remaining days, tickets can still be bought online.

AGM: The club held its AGM on Friday night last. It was lovely to hold it in the clubhouse for the first time since Covid. We remembered our past president James Cleary and all others who were last to rest in the past year. Micko Moloney and Paddy Moloney were elected as joint presidents and we welcomed Frankie O’Shea and Pake Murtagh as our new vice presidents. All other officers are staying on board and the full executive can be viewed here. We reviewed the 2023 season for all men's and ladies, and boys' and girls' underage teams, and plans were discussed for the 2024 season and beyond. The club acknowledged the success of the field development project and thanked all who helped in any way. The total cost was €320,000 and so far the club has raised €280,000 through fundraising and grants from Sports Capital and Munster. The club secured a low-interest loan from the GAA to cover the gap of €40,000 and is hopeful this can be paid off by December 2024.

Lotto: The jackpot is €3,800 and three tickets can be purchased for as little as €5 with no commitment by tapping here. Lotto is also available in the pubs and shops and outside Centra on Friday and Saturday from 10-1pm.
