Results:

Kildysart/Coolmeen U16’s played a super second half and almost pulled off the comeback of the year but unfortunately, they fell short by a single point in the Division 2 Quarter Final, Kildysart/Coolmeen 3-8, Clarecastle 4-6. The home side started strongly and totted up 4-5 by the halftime whistle with Kildysart/Coolmeen getting 4 points on the board with 2 frees and 2 from play from Liam Casey.

Kildysart/Coolmeen came out in the second half with fire in the belly and quickly notched up 2 points before Clarecastle added their only point of the second half, Kildysart/Coolmeen 0-6, Clarecastle 4-6. The team played with great heart and even though they were 4 goals in arrears, Kildysart/Coolmeen pounded on the pressure and were rewarded when Michael Kennedy arrowed through the defense and blasted one to the net. There was no let-up and as the game moved into the final quarter, Liam Casey took a superb pass from Conor Murrihy and left the Magpie ‘keeper no chance, Kildysart/Coolmeen 2-6, Clarecastle 4-6. Four minutes later, Kildysart/Coolmeen were awarded a penalty, which Darragh Murtagh struck with dead-on accuracy to leave just three points between the sides and three minutes remaining. Kildysart/Coolmeen gave it everything and with 2 points from Liam Casey they inched closer and closer but they could not close the gap and the final whistle blew.
