23/02/2024: When the club started the Pitch Development project it was envisaged that a walkway around the pitch would be a great community amenity. However, alternative funding would have to be sourced as walkways do not fall under the remit of the Sports Capital programme. While implementing the sand-based pitch, the club ensured the groundwork and fencing would facilitate the future walkway project. In October 2023, the club held a 5-year development plan meeting (open to all members) where the walkway was again chosen as the number 1 project.
Kildysart GAA is excited to announce that it is applying to Clare County Council for planning permission to construct a walkway around the perimeter of the site. It is also applying for retention for lighting poles and a 315-seater stand on the hill, which will be in phase 2 of this project. For the walkway, the club will be applying to the CLÁR programme (Ceantair Laga Árd-Riachtanais) which provides funding for small-scale infrastructural projects in rural areas. If we are successful in securing CLAR funding, we expect work to commence in September of this year.
