26/10/2019:  Kildysart’s tenacity got them over the line this afternoon when they snatched victory from Clondegad in the U21B Qtr Final, Kildysart 0-18, Clondegad 3-8. With Kildysart taking an early three point lead, the tide quickly changed when Clondegad hit for a three goal onslaught between the 10th and 16th minute. The Estuary men found themselves chasing the match and were 3 and 5 points adrift for long periods. The half time whistle left a just goal between the sides, Kildysart 0-8, Clondegad 3-2.

Clondegad started strong in the second half and extended their lead to 5 once more.  Both sides added three points each to still leave 5 between them turning into the last quarter. But Kildysart never gave up and fought for every ball up and down the field. Diarmuid O’Donnell notched it up a gear scoring 5 of Kildysart’s next 7 unanswered points to put the Blues ahead by two with as many minutes remaining on the clock. Clondegad brought the game back to a single point in the 62nd minute and the large neighbouring crowd were on knife edge waiting for the final whistle. Kildysart held on to their lead and will face the winner of Banner v Doonbeg in the semi final. That match throws in Monday in Cooraclare at 12:30. Final score: Kildysart 0-18, Clondegad 3-8.
