07/06/2021: In a repeat of the 2020 Cusack Cup opener, Kildysart again travelled to Doonbeg and came away with the spoils beating the home side 14 points to 8. Due to fixture congestion, intercounty players are not taking part in this years Cusack Cup. However there was a bit of an atmosphere in the stands with 100 spectators adding a bit of a buzz.

Doonbeg opened the scoring but a brace from Diarmuid O'Donnell kept the sides level in the opening minutes, 2 points a piece. A strong defense led by Conor Moloney and Ian Flanagan kept the Magpies scoreless for the next 20 minutes. On the attacking front, Kildysart had 6 players adding the remaining 7 scores of the half, with the stand out being centre back Rory McMahon's lone run up the pitch and popping the ball over the bar. Score at half time: Kildysart 0-9, Doonbeg 0-3.

Doonbeg got to grips with the match in the second half and made better use of their possession adding 5 more scores, but the result was never in doubt as Kildysart maintained their 6 point half time margin until the end. Final score: Kildysart 0-14, Doonbeg 0-8. Round 2 of the Cusack Cup is in two week's time.
