PRESS RELEASE (11 Feb 2022): Kildysart GAA is delighted that we have been allocated €118,000 in the latest round of Sports Capital funding, announced today. The Club's sports capital application comes on the back of extensive fundraising by the Club and the Kildysart community over the last few years. Our current project is to develop a sand based pitch while also lengthening and widening the playing field. Since forming the One-Club model is 2013, the demand for Club facilities has grown and our membership has doubled, resulting increased female participation, which is a key aim of this round of sports capital funding. The club received previous sports capital funding in the 2014 allocation which enabled us to develop and expand the clubhouse facilities.
John Ginnane, chairperson of the Club said, “This is another landmark day for the club’s future. The Sports Capital funding will enable us to develop an all-weather pitch which is essential as we are currently fielding 17 teams between the men and ladies.” Treasurer Tricia Donnellan noted that costs are rising rapidly but feels the club will deliver the project on budget with the aid of this grant funding, club savings and a loan from Community Finance Ireland.
The Club's Sports Capital application was developed by John McNelis, Tom Kelly, and Tricia Donnellan. That group and the Club wish to thank Minister for Sport Jack Chambers, our local politicians and in particular, Cathal Crowe TD for their support of our application. The club wishes to thank its members and supporters for their generosity without whom none of this development would be possible.
