21/05/2022: Cusack Cup Round 6 update: Kildysart’s tenacity saw them take the valuable 2 points in tonight’s thrilling estuary derby with Clondegad. After falling behind 9 points just after the restart, (Kildysart 1-4, Clondegad 2-10), Kildysart outscored the home side in the third quarter by 1-3 to a point to narrow the gap to 4 points (Kildysart 2-7 Clondegad 2-11). Helped in part by the Clondegad black card with 9 minutes remaining, Kildysart kicked on to bring the match to just one point (Kildysart 2-10, Clondegad 2-11) with 2 minutes of normal time remaining. The Blues delivered the ultimate sucker-punch goal in injury time to steal the match from the red and blacks. This was the first time since the opening minute that Kildysart were ahead (Kildysart 3-10, Clondegad 2-11) and after a further 3 minutes injury time that’s how it ended. Kudos to the team for their belief in themselves to fight back and claw out the win.
Kildysart are joint 4th with KIB after KIB won comfortably over Eire Og. St Breckan’s extended their unbeaten run drawing with Doonbeg. Ennistymon edged out Miltown to maintain their 3rd spot. Kildysart face KIB in the final round and the winner goes through to semi-final. Clondegad, Eire Og and Miltown are in the drop zone dependant on next weeks results.
