16/02/2023: Kildysart GAA is pleased to announce that Miltown’s John O’Sullivan will continue as coach of the Senior Men’s team, as they compete in the senior championship for the first time since 2004. David Butler will be at the helm as Bainisteior, having previously been involved last year with the backroom team when Kildysart reached the Cusack Cup Final and brought home the Intermediate Talty Cup. They are joined by the experienced Jacko Cleary, who in addition to being involved with the team’s success last year, was also involved in 2003 when Kildysart last won the Intermediate Championship. Darragh Butler will continue to provide stats and match analysis and Kieran Connelly remains the team physio. We wish the team every success in 2023 and look forward to the opening O’Gorman’s Cup match in early March and Round 1 of the Cusack Cup on Paddy’s weekend.
The Senior Football Championship kicks off on the weekend of 15/16th July with 13 teams broken into two groups of 4 and one group of 5. The two top teams from each group advance to the quarter-finals along with the 3rd placed team in the group of 5. A playoff between the two 3rd placed teams in the groups of 4 will determine the last quarter-final spot. The 2022 semi-finalists (Corofin, KIB, Ennistymon & Eire Og) will be seeded in each group with the group of 5 getting 2 seeds. The bottom team in each group will enter a playoff for relegation, with the first team drawn getting a bye, and will then face the winner of the first-round playoff. The winners stay in senior with the loser being relegated to Intermediate status for 2024.
Best of luck to the team and management in the coming season. See Fixtures for all the fixture dates.
