05/04/2023: And it was another busy week for the club……
Results:
The Seniors lost out in the Estuary Derby in round 2 of the Cusack Cup 3-10 to 0-13. See here for the match report. With 1 win and 1 draw, Kildysart is currently joined at the bottom of the table with Breckan’s and Corofin.
The Junior Ladies lost out to the undefeated Burren Gaels2 on a score-line of 3-7 to 1-4.
The Junior Men had another big win in the Division 7 league over Michael Cusack’s, 3-15 to 0-7. The on-form Colm Finucane raised the first green flag in the opening half with Terry Murphy bagging the other two within a minute of the re-start. With 8 scorers on the day (including 2 off the bench) and a full team effort – they were great value for their win. U15’s finally got to play their opening match after being rescheduled twice due to bad weather and it was worth the wait as they beat Cooraclare 4-11 to 3-10.
Fixtures:
The Junior Ladies travel to Kilrush on Friday evening (throw-in at 6:30) for the penultimate league match, in what could be the ultimate showdown. Burren Gaels top the table with three wins from 3 leaving Kildysart & Kilrush vying for the second-place spot and a shot at the final. Both teams have 2 wins and 1 loss but Kildysart has a better score difference. Miltown is also in the mix with 1 win and 1 loss but has a game in hand; we host them in the last round on 23rd April.
The Kildysart/Coolmeen U11s have a home blitz in Coolmeen on Saturday at 10, where they will be taking on two teams from Doora Barefield.
The Kildysart/Coolmeen Academy U15s have their opening match on Monday 10th April in Clarecastle, while the Kildysart/Coolmeen U15s will host Kilmurry Ibrickane in round 2 of Division 2-3 championship in Coolmeen on Wednesday 12th.
The U16 ladies have a home match on/or before Tuesday 11th when they face Doonbeg in round 3.
Looking ahead to the Cusack Cup round 3, Kildysart will travel to Ennistymon on Saturday week (15th April) with throw-in at 6pm.
The Junior Men are also in action on Saturday week (15th April) when they take on Miltown in Ryan’s Field at 3pm in round 3 of their league. This is another clash of the table toppers as both teams have won their first two rounds, though Kildysart has a bigger points difference.

The Munster Hurling championship kicks off on Sunday 23rd April when Clare welcomes Tipperary to Cusack Park for a 4pm start. Tickets go on sale this Thursday.
