26/04/2023: Here is the club update for this week.
Results:
The Junior Ladies had to settle for a draw against Miltown 2 on Sunday last in Coolmeen, with the final score line Kildysart 1-8, Miltown 0-11. This means the team finished third in the table and as there are no semi-finals in this competition, this was their last match in the league. The team will complete in the Junior A Championship later on in the summer.
The Kildysart/Coolmeen Academy U15s lost to DooraBarefield on a score line of 5-5 to 3-2.
Fixtures:
The Senior men will travel to Corofin on Saturday for a 2pm throw-in where they aim to build on the success of two weeks ago when they had a big win over Ennistymon. Corofin won the Garry Cup in 2022, but are struggling to find their feet in the Cusack Cup, not yet registering a win. This year’s Cusack Cup is proving to be a tight affair - with only 1 point separating the 4 second-placed teams and the 3 third placed teams. The Seniors are playing again the following Saturday 6th May v Lissycasey at 5pm, in a “home” match for Kildysart.
Junior Men: we are still trying to confirm if the match is going ahead this Bank holiday Monday v Breckan’s.
Kildysart/Coolmeen U15 boys will be sporting their new jerseys this evening (26th April) when they travel to Cross to take on Naomh Eoin/O’Curry’s at 7pm. Both clubs wish to thank Casey & Meaney Construction for their generous sponsorship.
The U14 Ladies will travel to Kilmhil on Thursday (27th April) for their round 2 league match with a 7pm throw-in.
The U9 boys are also hitting the road to Kilimer for their round 3 blitz v Wolfetones, Cooraclare and Kilimer on Saturday (29th)
Please check the Clubzap Games tab or the website fixtures listing for all up-to-date fixtures and results. The club wishes to thank our neighbouring clubs and the Clare County Board for facilitating us during our current pitch development.
Race Night: The club is holding a race night in Mitchell’s on Saturday 13th May and horses are €20 each. Your support is very much appreciated. Horses can also be purchased online here.
Munster Championship
The Clare Footballers pulled off a win for the ages and have secured their first Munster Final spot since 2012 when they were finally able to break the deadlock with Limerick and pull ahead in the last 10 minutes. Emmet McMahon hit for a crucial 2 points in this time period: the first one to put Clare ahead 1-12 to 0-14 in the 63rd minute and the second to give us a clear 3 point lead deep into injury team, 1-15 to 0-15. Final score: Clare 1-16, Limerick 0-16. Despite calls for the Munster Final to be held in Cusack Park, it will held in the Gaelic Grounds on May 7th with a 4pm throw-in.
This semi-final win secures Clare’s place in the All Ireland Group stages with 15 other teams, comprised of the 8 provisional finalists, the Tailteann Cup winners of 2022 and the next 7 ranked teams. The Group stages consists of 4 groups of four and kicks off on 20th May with with each team in the group playing a home, an away & a neutral match. The top team of each group advances to the quarter finals while the second and third placed teams are headed to the preliminary quarter finals, which begin on the 24th June. The All Ireland Final is in Croke Park 30 July 2023.
The Clare Minors weren’t so lucky in their round 2 match v Limerick in Miltown on Thursday last, losing 4-6 to 0-15. We wish Conall Casey and the Clare team the very best of luck in the final round v Tipperary on Thursday (27 April) in Thurles where only a win will keep the Banner’s hopes of progressing alive. This match is being shown on Munster GAA TV Live with throw in at 7pm.
Best of luck to Erin O’Connor and Anna Cleary and the Clare U14’s as they take on Limerick in the Johnny Hayes Tournament in Mallow on Saturday (29th April).
