06/06/2023: Here’s the latest weekly update from Kildysart GAA Club

Results:

They say goals win matches but in this case, it wasn't enough as the Senior Men bow out of the Cusack Cup after losing to Doonbeg on Bank Holiday Monday, 3-3 to 1-12. Tap here for the match report. The team finished fourth overall in the Cusack Cup and is in the O'Gorman Cup final, which will put them in good stead as they prepare for Senior Championship.

The Kildysart/Coolmeen U15’s had an important victory on the bank holiday as they won on the road v Miltown, 2-13 to 1-11. This win enhances their chances of reaching the cup semi-final (see more under fixtures below).

Fixtures:

The fixture of the week is this Friday’s final round match for Kildysart/Coolmeen U15’s as they take on Gaels/Kilmihil on Friday evening in Coolmeen at 7pm. The Division 2-3 is broken into 2 groups of 7 and only the top 2 teams in each group will compete for the Cup semi-final. Currently, Kildysart/Coolmeen are in second place on 8 points behind KIB who are on 9 points. Snapping at their heels are Banner and Cooraclare – level on 6 points – who face each other in the final round. So it’s all still to play for and we wish the boys the very best of luck.

The U15 Academy boys are on the road to Clooney this Wednesday with a 7pm throw in.

The U9 boys are in a blitz this Saturday in Ballynacally where they will play Doora Barefield and Clondegad.

The U12 Ladies are in a rescheduled round 2 match on Monday next at home in Kildysart v Burren Gaels.

The Junior Men are currently joint first with both St Joseph’s teams of Miltown and Doora Barefield on 8 points with Kildysart having played all their matches. Barefield face Eire Og this evening (Tuesday 6th) in a round 7 match while Miltown has a round 5 match v Moy outstanding. These three teams will finish in the top 3 but the ranking will depend on the results of the outstanding matches. The semi-final will be played over the weekend of 17/18th June.

Please check the Clubzap Games tab or the website fixtures listing for all up-to-date fixtures and results. The club wishes to thank our neighbouring clubs, Kildysart Soccer Club, St. John Bosco and the Clare County Board for facilitating us during our current pitch development.

Championship: The draw for the Championship will take place on Wednesday, 14th June at the County Board Meeting. The Senior championship is composed of 12 teams as the amalgamation of Coolmeen/Gaels/Kilmihil has withdrawn from the competition. The teams, who will be placed into three groups of four, are Cill an Disirt, Cill Mhuire Ui Bhreacáin, Cluain Da Ghad, Cora Finne, Creatlach, Dún Beag, Éire Óg Inis, Inis Diomáin Peil, Lios Ui Chathasaigh, Naomh Breacain, Naomh Iosaif, Naomh Seosamh. The dates for the round matches are expected to be the weekends of 5/6th August, 19/20th August, and 2/3rd September.

The Juniors are competing in the Junior B Premier championship along with Cill Ruis na Seamrog, Cluain Da Ghad, Cora Finne 1, Éire Óg Inis, Inis Diomáin Peil, Lios Ui Chathasaigh, Maigh, Mhichíl Chíosog, Naomh Iosaif, Wolfe Tones Na Sionna, Cora Finne 2, Pairtin/Miliuch. They will be grouped into two groups of four and one group of five and will play on the same weekends as the seniors.

Munster Championship:

Hard luck to Emmet McMahon and the Clare senior footballers on their loss away to Monaghan last weekend. Emmet played an important role and fired over 6 points (5 frees) but Clare lost by 5 points, 1-23 to 1-18. Clare is now out of the All-Ireland competition and will play Derry in a neutral venue on the 17th June.

Congrats to the Clare Minor Hurlers on the All-Ireland win over Galway 2-22, 4-11.

Munster Final: We are awaiting an indication from the Clare County Board whether any more tickets will be allocated to the clubs. We will update this as soon as we know any details.

U14 Ladies All Ireland Final:

Best of luck to Anna Cleary and selector Caroline Cleary and the U14 Clare Ladies in the U14 Ladies All Ireland Final. Clare will take on Wicklow on Saturday 10th June at Macdonagh Park, Nenagh. Throw-in is at 1:30 and tickets can be bought here. It’s a great privilege for the club to have members partaking in such a huge occasion.

Training Tops: Training tops for 2023 are available to purchase here until this Friday 9th June 2023.

Lotto: The lotto jackpot is €7,000 and 3 tickets can be purchased for as little as €5 with no commitment by tapping here. Lotto is also available in the pubs and shops and outside Centra on Friday and Saturday from 10-1pm.
